CertiMaC performs durability testing under environmental conditions and it is the reference laboratory at a national level for freeze/thaw resistance determination.
Building envelope materials – roofs, external claddings, ventilated facades, pavers – are continuously subjected to external climatic solicitations. Hence, durability testing is paramount, as it represents product performance over its lifetime.
Environmental durability testing is required to obtain CE marking, both during initial type testing (ITT) and during factory production control (FPC).
TESTS AND EQUIPMENT
For this purpose CertiMaC has two Vötsch Industrietechnik Climatic Chambers based on a microprocessor-controlled system that allows to reproduce different hydro-thermal freeze/thaw cycles provided for in the legislation and to acquire real test data.
The purpose of environmental durability testing is to evaluate the products' resistance under freeze/thaw cycles. After the cycles have been performed, aesthetical, chemical, physical and mechanical characteristics are analysed in order to offer a complete evaluation of thermo-hygrometric properties of tested products.
