The envelope confirmed its decisive role in determining the overall building energy consumption. 
 
Developing high performance products and systems represents one of the most challenging goals for material producers but also a great opportunity of innovating.

The MITAI Laboratory–Ravenna Technopole Faenza Headquarters offers, in partnership with ENEA and CNR, expertise and know-how oriented to the innovation of the building sector:

MATERIALS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE BUILDING ENVELOPE
TECHNOLOGIES

Materials are designed and qualified thanks to the most innovative testing methodologies. The performances of single materials and how different layers interact are evaluated not only regarding the thermal point of view, but considering the overall performance of the wall: mechanical strength, durability, thermo-hygrometric behaviour.
A guarded heat flow meter and numerical modelling tools are available at the research laboratory to perform experimental analyses and simulations for the improvement of thermo-insulating properties of innovative and traditional materials.
 
 
RESEARCH TEAM

The research line regarding Materials and Systems for the Building Envelope is directly headed by CertiMaC, thanks to expertise and on-the-field experience gained through the Energy Efficiency Unit dedicated to Sustainable Energy, Materials Innovation, Envelope Performance.
